HOW THE REGION WORKS

 

The Regional Council

Elected Officers, appointments & non-Centre members

As laid down in the Constitution of a Region, the Council comprises:

  1. Four Elected Officers
  2. Twoappointed delegates from each Centre within the region
  3. Up to three non-Centre members.

Election of Officers are held each year at the Regional Annual General Meeting (AGM)) of the Region. 
The AGM time and place of this meeting is updated annually and shown on the AGM page of this website.
  

The Committee of each Centre within the region may appoint 2 delegates from their Centre to
attend Council meetings on their behalf.

Up to three co-opted members, being current Club members resident in the area, not registered
with any Centre (Non-Centre members) and deemed suitable by the Club Executive Committee
may also apply to complete the Council.
  Once approved, non Centre members may attend
meetings for an annual period; this period may be renewed each year at the discretion of the
Elected Officers of the Council.

Non Centre Members of the Council 

If you are a current member of the Caravan Club, not registered with any Centre
and think you may like to become a non-Centre member of the Council, please contact
the Honorary Secretary who will be happy to discuss your application.
 

You will be asked for some information about yourself, your interests and experiences, as a Club member,
relating to your caravanning hobby or pastime.
  This is a chance to tell us about yourself and
ask us any questions that may help you decide if you wish to proceed with your application.
  All very
informal.

Objectives

In accordance with our Constitution,
the aims of the Region are:

  • To represent general matters of Club or Centre interest to The Caravan Club Council.
     
  • To provide a means whereby The Caravan Club interest to those members living in the Region may be fostered.
     
  • To provide a forum to discuss and solve local issues.

The Regional Council

  • The Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Hon. Secretary and Hon. Treasurer are elected annually at the Regional Annual General Meeting.
     
  • Two delegates from each Centre within the Region are appointed annually by the Centre Committee's.
     
  • Finally, there may be up to three co-opted members, these being current members of The Caravan Club who are not registered with any Centre, and who are deemed suitable by The Caravan Club Executive Committee.
  • Normally the Chairman and Vice-Chairman may serve a maximum of three consecutive years. Their nomination for a further year may be accepted with the agreement of the Regional Council, and if elected, the member may complete a forth year in that office.
     
  • A Chairman may stand for election again after being out of office for one year. A Vice-Chairman may stand for the office of Chairman without any such gap in office.
     
  • A Regional Officer cannot hold a position on any Centre Committee.

  • Any member of The Caravan Club living within the boundaries of the N.H.C.R. or registered with a Centre in the Region is eligible to become an elected Officer of the Regional Council.

  • The Chairman and Vice-Chairman of The Caravan Club shall be ex-officio members of the Regional Council. Members of the Executive Committee and Nominated Members of The Caravan Club living in the area, as well as the Director General or his representative, may attend meetings, having the right to speak but not to vote.

     

How The Council Works

  • Regular meetings are held where caravanning topics concerning the Club are discussed and debated. The Regional Council has a broad brief, and has a direct link to the staff at East Grinstead House for additional advise and guidance as required.
     
  • An Annual General Meeting is held each year, normally in November. The meeting is open to all members of the Club who live in the Northern Home Counties Region, or registered with a Centre within the Region

  • Election of Officers, approval of accounts and reports on the Council’s activities take place during the AGM.
     
  • All members are welcome at the A.G.M.. Caravan parking will be arranged near the meeting (advanced booking is essential). There are also CL's and Sites with a reasonable distance.

  • The venue changes each year and rotates around the Region.

Other Events and Activities

During the year’s the Region have organised other events including an Open Forum, Members Question Time and Roadshow’s on Club Sites.

All regional Council events are advertised in the Club Magazine and on this web site.

 

Regional Finance

  • The Region receives an annual grant from The Caravan Club to administer the Regional Council.

  • The amount of grant is determined by the Executive Committee upon receiving advice from the Grants Sub-Committee.

  • Regional grants are subject to annual review.

  • Regional accounts are annually audited by a Caravan Club approved qualified Auditor.
